Fountain ready!

I got this fountain for Eric for his first father's day back 2 houses ago. Amara LOVED the sound of it as a baby and it was perfect on our back porch--but on Copper Ct. we didn't really use it all that much in the front.

We were thrilled to find this perfect spot for this big monster--right on top of the old sistern, and with an outlet already right there for us (like it was meant to be :))

The girls were thrilled to see it in place and plugging it in. Amara rushes to fill it anytime it seems remotely low, and we use it as an outdoor sink sometimes too.  Loving it so much here!

Mailbox makes it official

The mailbox is in. It doesn't have numbers on it--it's just the grey one with a red flag and black pole for now.

We wanted one like mom and dad's and it's a beast. It's 3/8 fabricated steel and it weighs a TON.  Dad and Eric dug and dug and dug to finally get it deep enough that the thing wasn't as tall as a bird house!!

It's beautiful and we love it, just like the rest of this goofy house. We are so glad the girls are enjoying themselves too and are so thankful for all of it!

Tearing up the yard

So, with old houses, it's always something, right?

Last week--my plumber pointed out the "niagra falls" water that was coming into our basement during a particularly heavy downpour. He called D&D land services and they were LITERALLY there in 10 minutes--I told him it was a setup :)

They were out in the rain with me for 3 hours looking at drains, checking the basement, the lift station, septic--you name it.

In the end, we determined there were some pretty crushed drain pipes--after the help of Randy's fancy and expensive camera/ locator.

In came the big tools--and Dennis and Doug were off.  It sure looked like playing, but I'm sure the bill won't be very funny at all.

Randy told me about all the backup that was happening and where the drains weren't tied in properly--so it clearly needed done and had been neglected, but wow. What a mess! (as Cora would say:))

filling in some holes

We had some holes, literally, back by the gazebo. We aren't sure if the previous owners dug something out when they moved, or if they dug holes to plant something and didn't--but there were like 15 or 16 holes back there.

Eric and I took a day and picked out an assortment of kind of wild flowery things that we hope the girls will love.  Can't wait to see it grow and grow as we all do!
