Kitchen--Before and after

The transformation of our kitchen has been just that--a transformation.  In the beginning, we knew we were gutting it, but putting it back together wasn't so clear, especially using 3 different contractors and various plumbers, electricians, etc. to do it.
Without further delay, I will present the official before and after pics.  Kind of proud of them really.  Eric did a great job documenting it all before the demo started and I kept everyone annoyed DURING the process, and well, here we are today.
This was the before--the way it looked when we first saw it in all its glory.

Tiny cupboards, little storage, awesome blue island, laminate flooring, and of course, the stage--complete with indoor/outdoor carpeting.

The wallpaper was fun too, kind of marbey-like and was very stretchy as it came off, haha.

Even though it wasn't the 'showpiece' of the house, we could tell it would be an amazing room with a little help of course--

This was the shot looking in from the dining room.

And this was the "during," as we gutted it literally down to the floor joists, moved the door, removed the stage, island, etc.

Today, this is the view as you walk in from the laundry room.  The maple flooring was procured to match the rest of the maple throughout the main floor.  The kitchen table, a garage sale leftover, just needed some sandpaper, paint, and sandpaper again.  We kept the original light fixture, again--just paint and bulbs.

Beadboard and a chair rail go half way up to the poppy wallpaper, that accents the long wall in the kitchen.
The view now from the window/corner.  New cabinets, appliances, backsplash and granite make the off white cabinets stand out, and I'm IN LOVE with my plate rack--inspiration, Paula Deen :).

Love the countertops, so forgiving and effortless, and the bigger stove really helps with canning, baking, and overall getting it DONE in the kitchen--not to mention having the microwave separate and near the fridge is genius.

Loving the farmhouse sink, an open box find and really started the planning for the whole kitchen really, and the banquette seating by the windows gets rid of any need for high chairs, etc. not to mention is now storage for our linens, tablecloths, runners, etc.

And again, the view from the dining room.  I love the kitchen--and although we're still figuring out all the details, I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out.  Even though it took 3 contractors and close to 8 months, I think we are finally done with most things around here!  HOO RAY!!
